Pirkan Hiihto will be held on the shorter Kangas-Pirkka route

Due to poor snow conditions, this year’s Pirkan Hiihto ski race will be held on a shortened Kangas-Pirkka route. There is not enough snow for the entire traditional 90-kilometer route from Niinisalo in Kankaanpää to Teivo in Ylöjärvi.

Kangas-Pirkka will be skied on Saturday, February 28, 2026. The length of the Kangas-Pirkka route is 57 km, and half route 25 km. The event center and the finish and start areas are located in Jämi. The start is between 7 a.m. and 9 a.m. The skiing styles are classic or freestyle. There are no competition series this time, but the skiers’ times will be recorded.

The Pirkan Hiihto event is traditionally followed by the Pirkan Reppuhiihto event on the following Saturday. Reppuhiihto event will be held on Saturday, March 7, 2026, as Kangas-Reppuhiihto, meaning that the event will take place in Jämi. Weather permitting, the routes used will be the Kangas-Pirkan routes (57 km and 25 km).

Changes are possible depending on snow conditions. Up-to-date information about the event is available on the Pirkka Ski Race.
