The annual Suunnistusmaraton – Orienteering Marathon held in Jämi brings orienteers of all ages and skill levels to the forests of Hämeenkangas on the first Sunday in November. The Orienteering Marathon is organized by Ikaalisten Nouseva Voima. Jämi Arena serves as the competition center, and both the start and finish lines are located in the immediate vicinity of the arena.
The courses for the orienteering marathon are located outside the training and competition exclusion zones for the 2030 Jukola Relay.
The race distances range from about 5 to 25 km, and approximately 800 participants are expected to attend the event. The event includes both competitive and recreational categories, and no racing license is required to participate in the recreational categories. Categories are organized for participants ranging in age from 12 to 85.
The Orienteering Marathon was first held in 2007. Over the years, it has grown from a gathering of just under a hundred people to a highly anticipated event attracting several hundred participants.
