The Jämi area and Hämeenkangas are sandy, dry grasslands. The airfield has two paved runways. The surrounding areas are mainly flat and covered with grass and low shrub vegetation.
The airfield areas are suitable for use as event venues and car parks. In the central area of Jämi, around the Jämi Arena, an area of about one hectare is partly paved and partly covered with crushed gravel. The area is suitable for use both as an event venue and a car park. In winter, event organisers should note that the area is often used as a start and finish area for cross-country ski races and other cross-country skiing events, which restricts the possibilities to clear snow away from the area to make it suitable for parking purposes.
The Hämeenkangas ridge terrain with its altitudinal differences and open dry pine forests is suitable for a broad range of hobbies in different seasons. Hämeenkangas offers a dense network of trails for various uses, as well as other paths and tracks. The number of lean-to shelters and campfire huts is exceptionally high in Hämeenkangas.

Hämeenkangas, maintained and managed by Metsähallitus Parks & Wildlife Finland, is used for military exercises and other activities. Please note that any consent or permit granted may also be withdrawn for the above reason. No compensation will be paid for cancellations.
Areas managed by Metsähallitus in the Lands and Waters map service
A permit must be requested from Metsähallitus for all events organised in Hämeenkangas. In addition, an agreement with Jämi Foundation is required for the use of Jämi airfield areas and the asphalt-paved upper car park in Jämi for events, and, if necessary, an agreement with other landlords is required for the use of other areas. Permits to use areas outside those managed by Metsähallitus must be requested from private landowners.
Event organisers are responsible for cleaning up all litter, route markings, etc. from the event area and the terrain immediately after the event.
