Jämi is located in Jämijärvi in Satakunta, about an hour’s drive from Tampere and Pori. It takes about three hours to drive from Helsinki region to Jämi. It is about 25 km from Jämi to Ikaalinen and Kankaanpää.
During school terms, there are bus routes between the municipal center of Jämijärvi and Kankaanpää.
The nearest train station is Parkano train station, from which Jämi is 47 km away.
The nearest airport is Tampere-Pirkkala Airport, from which Jämi is 75 km away.

Hämeenkangas is a training area for the Defense Forces.
Hämeenkangas, maintained and managed by the Finnish forest authority Metsähallitus, is used for military exercises and other activities. Hämeenkangas is primarily a training area for the Finnish Defence Forces, but the area is also open to hikers.
Moving around is restricted during Defense Forces exercises in a part of Hämeenkangas. Avoid moving near the vehicles and equipment of the Defense Forces. You can check the training times in the training area’s annual plan or by contacting the Defense Forces, tel (02) 99800.
The vast Hämeenkangas ridge area with its surrounding mires is a valuable location due to its natural features and species. The landscape is dominated by ridges covered in pine forest and lichen filled heathland forests. At lower altitudes the terrain is dotted with raised bogs and springs. Hämeenkanka’s terrains offer wonderful opportunities for hiking and exercise.

The area is part of the Lauhanvuori – Hämeenkangas UNESCO Global Geopark.
Jämijärvi and Hämeenkangas are part of the Lauhanvuori – Hämeenkangas UNESCO Global Geopark. The geological story of the geopark tells about the area’s development from an ancient mountainous region into what is now dominated by mires. The springs of Hämeenkankas are among the Geopark’s most fascinating places to visit.
Cottage plots are available in the Perhepuisto area, and more plots are to be. In Harjukuja, on the slope of the ridge, there are cottage plots that are rented out by Metsähallitus. It is possible to build aviation cabins next to the lower runway, with which you can build your own aircraft shelter.

The municipality of Jämijärvi manages a project related to giant events. In the project, e.g. organizing events in Jämi will be made easier and new events to the area will be attracted. The project is financed from the European Union’s Just Transition Fund (JTF) through the Regional Council of Satakunta.
