Länsi-Suomen Valjakkourheilijat, which has been organizing competitions in Jämi for more than three decades, will organize the Finnish Championships in sleddog sports in Jämi on January 25-26, 2025. The championship classes this time are the six-dog class (13 km), the four-dog junior class (9.6 km) and the two-dog class (5 km).

Juniors aged 10-13 compete with 1-3 dogs, and the length of the route is 5 km. There are also men’s and women’s two-dog skiing classes (13 km), which are not included in championship competition. The above-mentioned classes lasts two days.

There will also be a 1-4 dog hobby class (5 km) and a children’s class (approx. 100 m), which will only be competed on Saturday.

The competition routes are the Kunto 5 km and Kunto 10 km tracks and the club’s own route. The above-mentioned tracks are closed to skiing in order to avoid collisions. The finish, departure and dog pit area are located next to Lomahotelli Jämi at the airfield. The public can also watch the competition from the corner of the hotel or from the hotel terrace free of charge. For those who cannot make it to the venue, there is an opportunity to watch the club’s own LIVE broadcast on the website www.l-svu.fi, Facebook or YouTube.

The competition starts on Saturday at 10:00 and on Sunday at 9:00. Starting lists and results are on the club’s website. You are warmly welcome to watch the fast pace races and lots of wagging tails!

The next Finnish Championships are coming up on February 22-23, 2025, and then the classes will be the classes of eight and four dogs. More information on this later.

Changes are possible depending on the snow situation.
