Weekend days in autumn are made for day trips. There’s plenty of light until late afternoon. A campfire in the lean-to creates the atmosphere. A little rain is no problem, as long as you’re well equipped. Sandy trails in Hämeenkangas dry out quickly.
Pick the trails and rest stops you wish and plan a trip to suit your taste. For example, along the Harjuluonto nature trail starting in Jämi, you can admire the scenery at the highest point of Hämeenkangas and take a break at Jämi-Jukola lean-to or at Niiniharju hut. The Niiniharju hut is accessible, and there is also an accessible dry toilet and accessible paths around the rest area.
From Niiniharju you can continue to Jämi or along the Koivistonkierros trail towards Koivistonvati, which is the largest kettle hole in Hämeenkangas. There are three different rest areas and several dry toilets at Koivistonvati. Followin the edge of the ridge the trail comes back to Niiniharju.
The Hämeenkangas paths are also enjoyable for cyclists. The easy-going trails are suitable for cyclists of all levels. The Geobike Hämeenkangas route takes you to some of the area’s finest natural attractions. During the snow-free season, the Pirkan ura trail serves as a mountain bike route.
A great destination with children is the Vaarinnevankeidas mire, with a unique art nature trail. The artworks encourage hikers to observe the mire nature with all their senses. There are tables and benches for breaks at the site, but no fireplaces or dry toilets.
The Uhrilähde and the Kylmänmyllynlähde springs are absolute must-see destinations in all seasons. The nature around the springs changes with the seasons, but the bubbling water and the movement of the sand remain unchanged all year round.
